We had bought Cooper Yankee game tickets for his promotion last month, and we were excited to go watch the game today vs. the Kansas City Royals! It was a quick subway ride right to the awesome new stadium.
So happy to be here with my guy...
The stadium was so nice inside. I loved these banners of the Yankee "Greats."
We headed into the Yankee Museum. They had a fantastic display of Yankee and player memorabilia. Cooper likes Lou Gehrig, so it was neat to see a bunch of his stuff.
They had a huge display of Mickey Mantle items, but I loved seeing his original contract from 1949.
They had all of their World Series trophies displayed...
along with the World Series rings that each player received...
They have a wall of autographed balls, of every player that has played for the Yankees.
We got to the stadium early enough to watch some of the team warm up, and thankfully the early morning drizzle had stopped, so they were uncovering the field.
We had great seats along the first base line, and the overcast weather helped keep the temperatures bearable.
It was great to see Andy Pettitte as pitcher.
Today was Derek Jeter's first game back since he broke his ankle in a game last October! The crowd went wild when he came out on the field. He didn't play his position as shortstop, but it was great to see him bat several times, and get a run.
After the 5th inning, the crew comes out to "sweep" the dirt. The "YMCA" song is played, and they pause to do the dance moves throughout the song...we thought it was pretty funny.
Cooper enjoyed a hot dog and popcorn during the game...
This Royals player, Donnie Joseph, was making his MLB debut in today's game! I can't even imagine what that must feel like, but it was fun to watch.
I didn't know much about Ichiro Suzuki before watching today's game, but he is incredible. He is a fantastic hitter and outfielder, and such a great player to watch.
The Yankees pulled off an 8-4 win. We had such a fun time at the game, and being in the beautiful stadium.

And while we spent the day at the ballpark, Zoe spent another long day dancing. Her feet were pretty sore, so after her shower, a foot ice bath was in order...
