The 5th graders wait all year to attend their pool party at the Community Rec Center. Jenny and I were in charge of the event, so we've been working on the details for the past few weeks. Thankfully, we had some awesome parent volunteers and the day couldn't have gone smoother.
The kids hopped off the school bus at about 9:30 and huddled together to listen to the rules of the pool. They couldn't wait to jump in the water!
The sun wasn't out yet, and it was a bit chilly, but they didn't care!
They were anxious to go down the slide...
and jump off of the diving board...

The teachers got to enjoy a little downtime today!
At 11:00, they had to get out of the pool for the Adult Lap Swim at the CRC. They spent 45 minutes going through different game stations. Amanda did an incredible job organizing this and the kids had a blast.
Cooper started with the towel dance. They had to pair up and dance. When the music stopped, each pair had to jump on their towel. After each round, they had to fold their towel in half.
Cooper and Eli had to "hug it out" in order to fit!
Next up was limbo...
then a hula hoop game...
a water sponge race...
and a sponge, over-under game...
he finished with a spaghetti noodle relay race...
After the games, it was time to eat. We served pizza, goldfish, fruit snacks, water bottles, and ice cream sandwiches. These kids were hungry!
They had some spare time, so they did a little Gangnam Style dancing...
The sun had come out and they were anxious to get back in the water!
We had another volunteer create this beautiful "photo booth" with props for the kids to take some fun pictures!

We had a fun day volunteering for this event. The kids have all worked so hard this year, and it was a great day to be away from school and celebrate!
