Memorial Day BBQ

The 4 day weekend was packed with fun...beach, pool, bike rides, swimming, and lots of eating. It was so nice to enjoy the warm weather! We decided to have some friends over to BBQ and swim, so the Blumenthals, Bramsways, and Remmers headed on over. The kids spent the day in the pool and playing Just Dance on the Wii. The grown ups sat around the table eating way too much food!

I love watching the kids play this game...they all have so much fun trying to keep up with dances! Thanks for bringing it over Allie...it is now #1 on Zoe's birthday wish list!Happy Memorial Day!

First Beach Day of the Season!

Usually Memorial Day Weekend is pretty cold and gloomy, but today was absolutely perfect beach weather! We headed to Grandma and Grandpa's house early this morning to spend a little time this weekend. We got packed up and found a great spot on the beach.
The water was still VERY cold, but luckily the kids each have their wetsuits so they were able to get in and play for a little while...boogie boarding, skim boarding, finding lots of sand crabs and just jumping the waves.

I hope this is the start of MANY more beach days in the summer to come!!! I am officially READY!!

Family Day

The day after Open House is always Family Day at Tony Tobin. It is a day for parents and grandparents to come eat with the kids, tour their classrooms, and spend a little time in the book fair. Grandma always brings lunch for the kids, and they love having her there to eat with and show off all of their class work. She also treats them to a few books each at the book fair! I was teaching in Cooper's class today, so I was able to spend a little time with them during my lunch break too.

Open House Night

I love Open House night! It is so much fun to walk through the kids classrooms to see all of their amazing work. I enjoy seeing how much they have improved from the beginning of the year until now. It also makes me sad to see that the year is almost over and that they are ready to move up another grade.

We started off in Cooper's classroom with Mrs. Falciano. Boy are we going to miss this lady! She had the classroom set up with wonderful displays of the students work.
Cooper showed off the best of everything he's done this year. He has also spent the last month working very hard on his family history project and it was neat to see it finally put together.


Next it was time for Zoe's class with Mrs. Atkinson...it will be very hard to leave this lady too! The classroom was set up with all of the students display boards.
Zoe has been working VERY hard on her California Mission Project. It was finally finished and she was able to show off her board and recite her speech while dressed up as one of the priests from Mission San Juan Bautista.
Zoe also got to show off her 4th grade memory book which is filled with her best writing and art projects of the year.
I am so proud of both of you! I am so impressed by how hard both of you work to succeed.

Girl Scout Sea World Trip

We ended our year in Girl Scouts with a day trip to Sea World. With their cookie money, each girl earned a ticket into the park as well as the Dolphin Encounter experience. Although it was pretty cold and windy, we had a wonderful day!
The Dolphin Encounter was a great experience for the girls. They got in small groups with a Sea World trainer and were "up close and personal" with many of the dolphins. They were able to touch them, feed them, and even learned some training commands.



Cooper didn't get to participate in the Encounter, but had a great time watching and getting to see the dolphins do some amazing tricks.
After a quick stop for lunch we went to the Shamu show. We started out in the upper section of the soak zone, but most of the kids decided to move down to the 4th row. They got soaked, but enjoyed every minute of it!

The rest of the afternoon was spent wandering around the park looking at the penguins, beluga whales, sharks, eels, feeding the sting rays, and watching the Pets Rule show and the Sea Lion show.


Most of the troop had left for the day, but Lisa and I decided to stay for a little while longer. We had a blast with the kids and decided to brave the Journey to Atlantis Ride. We all loved it, but Lisa and Lacey were drenched by the time it was over!


It was a bittersweet day for our troop. Our leader Brook will be moving this summer, so our troop certainly won't be the same next year. These girls have shared a lot of wonderful memories together.

Goodbye to Miss Ault!

Miss Ault has been a student teacher in Zoe's 4th grade class this trimester. Zoe has loved having her there and they have grown quite close in the last month or so. Mrs. Atkinson and the students threw a surprise fiesta for her going away party, complete with quesadillas, chips and homemade salsa, guacamole and chicken enchilada dip. It was a fun lunchtime for the class!

At the end of the day, Zoe was very sad to say goodbye. We hope she comes back to visit soon!

Cooper's Day!

Tonight we celebrated the anniversary of Cooper's baptism. He wanted burritos for dinner and of course, a triple chocolate cake for dessert!
It is nice to take the time, even during these hectic and busy days, to remember what is most important. Cooper truly is the greatest gift God ever could've given. We love you Coop!

Elsinore STORM Game!

Last night we went to the Lake Elsinore Diamond Stadium to watch the Storm take on the Jethawks. Although most of the kids from Cooper's baseball team couldn't make it, we were still able to meet up with Coach Matt and his family and a few others.
The boys had so much fun hanging out and watching the game. Cooper even got his glove signed by #6 Cody Decker.

We had a great time watching the game. Afterwards, they put on a FANTASTIC fireworks show! Zoe was getting tired, but she was a trooper.
What a great night, and the Storm pulled off a 3-1 win!
