L.A. & Afters

After a very late night at Homecoming, Zoe and I were up early and headed to L.A.  We were attending a day of workshops and classes sponsored by the Spotlight Academy at the Music Center. This is a fantastic program for all areas of the arts: dance, voice, theater, music, etc. It was an informative day, focused on professional dance, auditions, and college.

The classes were held at both the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Walt Disney Music Center next door. What beautiful buildings they both are!
On our way home, we stopped at Afters for a treat!
They're well known for their milky bun ice cream sandwiches. They are VERY sweet, so it's a good thing Zoe and I split one. Their ice cream is delicious, and we chose cereal milk flavor.

(This is my new motto!)
It was a nice day to spend with my girl!

Homecoming Dance!

Zoe was slammed with dance and homework today, but she got herself ready to go to Homecoming!

We met up with some of her friends out in the wine country and took a few photos before dinner.
(Madi, Zoe, Lacey, Hana, Savannah, Katie, Jordan, Maddy, Abby)

Although indecisive, and opinionated at the same time, this is one fantastic group of girls. I'm so thankful Zoe has them.
I loved hearing the laughter and playfulness from them all.

(Lacey and Zoe...friends since kindergarten!)

Figuring out where to pose next...

I love this girl so much...she is growing up so fast. I wish I could just slow things down for a bit!

The girls ate dinner and a couple of moms drove them to the high school.
The dance was crazy, but a blast! There were carnival rides, ice cream, and even Gibby (from the t.v. show iCarly) as the D.J.  Zoe said the gym was hot and crowded, but they had such a fun time.

They ended the night with an after party at Savannah's house. What a fun night!

Homecoming Week 2015!

It was a fun week at GOHS! Each day was a dress-up day, and Zoe's favorite was 50's day which goes along with the Grease theme for Homecoming.

 So much fun with friends!

We had a great time at the football game Friday night. Zoe was in the crazy Red Wave section, Cooper was wandering with his friends, and I hung out with Jenny, Feliza and Tami. It was a good game, and a fun halftime show.

The Grease theme was on display with a fun skit featuring "Sandy and Danny". The homecoming court was presented and the winner was announced.
Of course it ended with a fantastic fireworks show!
Great Oak pulled off a win, and the crowds celebrated.
Such a fun week, and we are so happy to be a part of this school!

Fall Box Lacrosse

After taking a break from lacrosse last year, Cooper decided he wanted to play again. Thankfully, it is box season, so it's somewhat laid back and more focus is put on skill building.  They've only gotten one practice in, but today was the first game. Unfortunately, it was 104 degrees this afternoon. With pads and helmets, these boys were way overheated.

For box lacrosse, they play in the rink. The rules and positions are a little different, but it's fun to watch and moves quickly.
Coop won his first face-off and turned it into a score!
He also played great on defense.

They ended up calling the game after the 3rd quarter...we won 9-4!
Poor kid ran out of water halfway through...he was hot, sweaty and thirsty!!
Hopefully the weather will cool down, but it looks like it's going to be a great season!

Endless fishing!

Cooper's weekends (and many weekday evenings) are filled with fishing! Whether he's out on the ocean, on a lake, or at a pond, him and his buddies make the most of wherever they are. Some days they catch nothing, and others they get a load of big ones.

I don't know much about it, but I'm glad he's found another hobby to keep him busy!

September Beach Days!

Our temperatures have been soaring, it's always the hottest time of the year. The best way to beat the heat is to head to the beach, so Labor Day was spent here.

We spent the day with Amy, Avi, and Miles. It was gorgeous, and the perfect day to relax a little.
The surf was pretty big and the kids had a great day fighting and riding the waves.
I wish every weekend could last 3 days!
