Broadway Beat

Today were the final chorus performances for elementary school. After many months of before school practices, and some after school rehearsals, these kids were ready for the show. This performance was called Broadway Beat, and showcased many songs from popular Broadway shows.

They did 2 shows during the school day, and an evening performance for the parents.

 There were songs from Yankee Doodle Dandy,

 Annie,

 the Lion King,

 and more. Cooper played the part of a taxi driver, who came to pick up these girls waiting for a ride on Broadway, in NYC.

When the girls got into the taxi, it turned into the popular Cash Cab game. He asked them Broadway trivia questions while on their "drive" around the city.

At the end, there was a beautiful song from Wicked, with a slideshow of photos of the 5th grade Trail Dazzlers.

I got quite teary realizing that this was the last chorus show my kids would be in.

 They ended with a fun Grease number with all of the chorus 5th graders. Most of these kids have been in chorus for 3 years together.

 There aren't many boys participating in chorus this year, but Cooper had a great time with all these girls!

 He made a great taxi driver!

We have been so blessed having Mrs. McBride for the last 5 years as chorus teacher. She has brought out the best in both of my kids. She gave them opportunities to shine, and she has such a passion for all things related to music and performing. This is the beginning of our elementary school good-byes. Although there is so much going on right now, I am trying to take the time to enjoy every moment and each day.
