We were exhausted from our busy day yesterday, so we attempted a little less walking today. It didn't really happen, but our intentions were good! Zoe's dance program starts tomorrow, so we took advantage of our last free day!
We found one of the food trucks on my to-do list, Wafels and Dinges. They have delicious Belgian waffles, and a large topping selection, including the delicious spekuloos spread (a graham cracker/gingerbread spread with the consistency of peanut butter.)
We took the subway down to Columbus Circle. What a fun, lively area.
We walked down the street and found the beautiful, old Church of St. Paul the Apostle. They were in the middle of mass, so we stepped inside to witness a bit of it and experience some of the soothing hymns.
We needed to stock up on some groceries for the week ahead. We can't keep eating out every meal! We heard great things about the Whole Foods beneath the Shops at Columbus Circle, so we headed there first. It was pretty awesome in there, and they had a fantastic chocolate display!
We picked up a few things, dropped them off at the apartment, then headed out again. We found the Jacques Torres Chocolate shop, and just had to go inside!
The selection was amazing. It was getting really hot outside though, so their gelato looked perfecct. Zoe and I shared the chocolate and mocha. :)
We needed to finish our grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. There were multiple floors, and Zoe thought it was awesome that the carts had their own escalator system. We'll get this New York way of living down!
We went home to change and headed north of Times Square to see Cinderella on Broadway.
Mimi surprised us with tickets to the show before we left. We have heard wonderful things about it, so we couldn't wait.
The theatre was beautiful, and it was nice to be inside with air conditioning!
We really enjoyed the show, and the music was wonderful. Thank you for the tickets Mimi!!
After the show, we headed next door to Steak 'n Shake for a burger, veggie melt, and fries.
We crossed another bakery must-see off our list, and picked up a caramel macchiato cupcake at Crumbs Bake Shop to take home and share.
Another fun day in the city. We are feeling comfortable, settling in, and adjusting to the time change. Tomorrow is the BIG day, and we will get up early and head to the ABT Studio. I am definitely more nervous than Zoe is! I just keep praying for a good experience for her, and I hope the other dancers are a positive support system for her.
