Let the Adventure Begin!!

We were up and out the door early this morning for our flight from LAX to JFK. It was difficult to say goodbye to Joe, the dogs, and to Cooper. Cooper will be flying out with Mimi and Jax in a week, but Joe won't be coming out to New York until the end of our time there. We've never been apart for more than a few days before, so it was bittersweet, but we are very excited for this opportunity and exciting adventure!

While waiting to board, we grabbed some Starbucks.

Although tired from our early rise, her smile couldn't be any bigger. NYC, here we come!!

It took quite a while for our luggage to come out, but fortunately, there was a Dunkin Donuts stand right there.
We had a car service drive us to our apartment, and we were so excited to see the city come into view!

We are so blessed to be staying in this incredible apartment building. One of Joe's old customers generously offered us the use of their one bedroom apartment in the Upper West Side at a minimal cost. We couldn't be happier!

After dropping off our bags, we quickly hurried out to explore the neighborhood and get some food. We were starving!
Zoe's been waiting for some good New York pizza. We found a place right around the corner. It wasn't the best we've ever had, but it was pretty darn good!
I couldn't pass up walking a little further to get to one of the must-visit bakeries on my list.
Levain Bakery is well known for their deliciously large cookies. We were pretty full from our pizza, and these cookies are big, so Zoe and I split the dark chocolate peanut butter one.
It was warm and gooey, and the perfect end to a long, but great day.
So, this is our new home for the next 5+ weeks. We are looking forward to settling in, getting familiar with our surroundings, and exploring everything this city has to offer. Zoe will begin her program on Monday and I can't wait to see how it all goes!
