NYC, Day 15...

Today was Zoe's last day of her intensive. Even though there was an option for 5 weeks, we are so thankful that she was able to attend the first two weeks. They opened up the technique and pointe classes for observation this morning, so I was able to sit in and watch.

 Unfortunately, the staff told us at the beginning of the pointe class that we were not allowed to take any more photos or videos until class was over. Bummer...that was the best part!

Miss Eva was Zoe's favorite teacher...she absolutely loved everything about her and every class she was able to take with her. After class I introduced myself to her, and she had wonderful things to say about Zoe. In fact, Zoe has been invited to attend the year round Pre-Professional training program at this academy, and Miss Eva said she would be thrilled if Zoe would come train with them. Unfortunately, it is not an option for us to move to NYC, and have Zoe train from 8-5, Monday-Saturday and do online school.  Although, it sure was an honor to be asked to be a part of such a wonderful dance academy! So proud of you Zoe!

While Zoe finished the rest of her day at dance, I spent some time in the East Village walking around. I found Zarin Fabrics, which is the store owned by one of the previous Real Housewives of New York City, Jill Zarin.

 Stopped at one of my favorite doughnut shops...

 Then it was time to go back and pick up Zoe. We took a few last photos...

 

Zoe has made some great friends in just two weeks, from all over the country.

Then it was time to sign out for the last time. She has filled her days here with many classes: technique, pointe, core dynamics, stretch, repertoire, variations, character, enchainment, and mime. These two weeks were challenging, but fun. She made some great friends, got some good instruction, was able to take several classes from Gelsey herself, and had a wonderful experience.

 We decided to walk up through Soho on our way back...

 and of course pick up some Laduree macarons to go...

 we enjoyed dinner at this fun, authentic taco shop near our apartment...

They even built a kitchen inside this VW bus...

 We went home to rest for a bit, then went out to walk around for a while on this beautiful Friday night.

Zoe was hoping to find a boba smoothie, and we ended up in a weird part of Chinatown, but we never found what we were looking for. We did enjoy an awesome walk through Little Italy, with a nice view of the Empire State Building though.

 

 The city was busy with people, but so fun to wander around and enjoy our time.
