Wild Rumpus Day!

Today was the First Grade Wild Rumpus Day based on the book "Where the Wild Things Are". The kids had their own wild thing costumes and spent the morning doing fun activity rotations.
One station was set up for "Monster Mix"...One was coloring "wild thing" pictures...
My station was filling gloves with candy corn fingertips and popcorn to make monster hands...Monster games...Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of Cooper's favorite activity. The kids did a science experiment outside where they put hand in a rubber glove. The teacher added baking soda into the glove and then poured vinegar in. The kids loved the feeling of the glove "puffing up"! They all screamed when it happened!

Cooper also got to make his own Wild Thing at home this week for his homework. We spent a lot of time coming up with ideas and cutting and gluing and even sewing! He liked the sewing part, but kept saying "ouch, ouch" every time he poked himself with the needle! I think it turned out pretty cute and he won the award for "Most Creative Wild Thing".
