Arizona...Day 1

Our Spring Break trip wasn't what we had originally planned, but we decided on a VERY last minute road trip to Arizona for a few days. I booked some rooms the day before we left (which is very unlike me), packed some clothes and snacks after I finished work on Friday, and we left early Saturday morning.

We stopped in Kingman, drove along Route 66, picked up some lunch at Sonic, and got back on the road.

We let Zoe do quite a bit of the driving from there. It was great experience for her out on the highway.
We made it to Flagstaff in the afternoon, and checked into our hotel. It was in the perfect location next to Northern Arizona University in downtown.
Cooper brought his fishing poles, and was anxious to try to find someplace to go.  We found a great pond only a few minutes from our hotel, so off we went.

We had a nice time walking around and relaxing a bit.
We walked around the downtown area, which is full of shops, cafes, and restaurants. It's such a neat little college town, and a fun place to hang out.
We found this small, mom & pop diner, and had a delicious dinner...
followed by sweet treats at this yummy chocolate and candy shop!
We walked by the Hotel Monte Vista, which has been visited by many old celebrities (such as John Wayne) and is supposedly haunted.
We ended the night up at the Lowell Observatory. It was a freezing cold night (24 degrees), but it was perfectly clear. We listened to a night sky presentation, saw some amazing sites in the sky, including dozens of constellations, and even got to see Jupiter and 4 of it's moons through one of the many telescopes they had.

Our first day was a success, and it's just nice to be away, and be together!
