The last day is here...it seems that the past few weeks have flown by and this day really came quickly. Everyone is ready for the summer break, although as the kids have gotten older, we no longer have the lazy summer days with no schedule!
I am bummed that our middle school doesn't do any end of year awards recognition for their 6th and 7th graders, but Zoe was happy to get to school and finish up her first year at middle school. It has been a great year for her, and she has thrived.
Cooper, on the other hand, still had Friday Flag Awards this morning where he was called up for Honor Roll.
He knew he was making honor roll since he had seen the letter in his weekly envelope. What he didn't know was whether he had received all 5's this semester, and he was anxious about it. Cooper has worked really hard this year, and takes pride in always giving it his best. I could see the nervousness in him when Mr. McTasney was calling the kid's names to step forward if they received all 5's.
His name was called, and he stepped forward. He was able to step forward again, in recognition of his straight 5's all year long. Cooper, we are so proud of you!!
Saying goodbye to Mrs. Rogers at the end of the day was emotional. She is a "one in a million" teacher, and lady. Cooper has loved being in her class, listening to her stories, and enjoying her love of sports. She turned Cooper into a lifelong Oklahoma State Cowboys fan, and he even wore his orange and black in honor of her today.
After school, the reality of summer hit, and they had big smiles on their faces!!
Although Zoe doesn't receive her official report card until next week, she got her final grades today and was thrilled that she received straight A's all year too. I am beyond proud of both of them, and their hard work and dedication to everything they do. I can't believe I now have a 5th and 7th grader. Cooper will begin his last year of elementary school!
They had a few confetti poppers to release to mark the beginning of summer! Now its time for a short time of relaxation before heading into the crazy weekend of dance shows!!
Happy Summer!!!
