New Year's Vacation!

2012 started out with a twist. We were all excited to be heading to Orlando for a week at Disney World. We had booked a red-eye flight for New Years Eve out of LAX. We knew it would be strange not to be home like we usually are to celebrate, but it was fun to be doing something different.
Our plane was a bit delayed, and we were on the runway when the clock struck midnight. The pilot wished everyone a Happy New Year and we were up in the air. While flying up, we were able to see dozens of different firework displays all over southern California...it was quite a sight! We arrived early in the morning to a beautiful Florida day (and the warmest of our entire trip).
Since our room wouldn't be ready for quite a while, we headed to the Downtown Disney area to wander around. I was happy that all of the holiday decorations were still up! We would see lots of lights, decorations, and Christmas trees all week long.

I've always wanted to see the Grand Floridian Resort at Disney World, so we headed over there to walk around.
This hotel is gorgeous inside and out! The lobby is breathtaking, and for the holidays they have a beautiful tree in the center and a life-size gingerbread house.
There is even a beach on the grounds, so the kids splashed around for a while.

Our villa was finally ready in the afternoon, so after settling in, we hit the pool to have some fun before bedtime. We were all exhausted and ready for a good night's sleep before the long week ahead!
