Day 3...

We checked out of one hotel, and checked into the Atlantis Resort this morning since it was the official start of Joe's awards trip. We had great views from our room!

Since it was pretty chilly this morning, we took a taxi and headed to downtown Nassau for a little shopping and sightseeing. The Straw Market is a huge vendor market for all things souvenirs.
We negotiated and bargained a lot. Zoe just wanted some fun bracelets. Coop ended up with a mini-wooden drum, a wooden flute-like instrument, a wood knife, and a carved mask for his wall. He was a busy shopper! I found a Christmas ornament and print.
We spent a while walking up and down the streets and found some lunch.
I love how colorful all of the buildings are down here! All of the government buildings are pink.
We walked through town and found another beach. There were adorable, colorful shacks lining the walkway, each serving up specialty food and drinks.

Zoe had been craving a pina colada. :)
We headed back to the resort, hoping for some more beach time. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate much. The wind was rough, and created red flag conditions at the beach.  So back to more jumping and playing on the water's edge.

We decided to head to the water-slides for some more fun...

and the kids played in the kiddie section too...

This water park is so fun. One of our favorite's was the rapids river, which is like a lazy river, only they throw in waves and rapids along the way. You can even do several drop slides from the top of one of the towers and end in the river. It was tons of fun!
We watched an amazing sunset from our balcony!!

Tonight was the Welcome dinner...
 It was a beautiful evening...
The dinner buffet was outstanding, with lobster tail, beef filet, baked chicken, and a ton of delicious side dishes. It was followed by some yummy desserts...
We ended the night watching some Bahamian performers.
