Birthday Splash Bash!

The kids were so excited for their birthday party to finally be here! We headed out to Soak City in Palm Springs for a day of water fun. The timing was a little off (seems to be a recurring theme this summer!) but we made it work. It turned out to be a scorcher of a day, but everyone had a great time!
Zoe and Cooper decided to have a joint party this year since it was a bit of a destination. They each got to bring along a few friends, and Jax skipped school today to join his cousins for their fun day. Unfortunately, Zoe's friend Kass couldn't make it at the last minute, but the girls had a great time. Adam and Lauren met us there a little late since they were on their way back from Las Vegas, so it turned into a fun family affair for them.

As soon as we made sure that everyone was slathered in sunscreen, they raced off to the slides and wave pool!

At 1:00, we headed to the birthday party zone for some lunch, and cupcakes!
(Lauren, Zoe, Heather, Lacey, Jax, Cooper, Adam, Jakob, Westin, Nicholas)

They couldn't resist smashing the cupcakes in their faces!

It was way too hot to sit around any longer and try to open presents, so they all raced off for some more water rides before the end of the day.

Pacific Spin was the biggest hit of the day, they all took turns in groups, going on it again, and again, and again!

Unfortunately, Cooper had to head out with Joe a little after 4 o'clock since he had to be back for a baseball scrimmage with All-Stars. Like I said, the timing was off since we had planned this before we realized he would be doing baseball all summer. He was also battling a pretty bad bronchial infection, so was loaded up on his asthma meds. He was sad to be leaving, but was a trooper and said goodbye to his friends before they had to pack up and go.
(He actually ended up having a great game, and has decided that he loves playing catcher!) So the rest of the kids did a few more slides, and then we gathered everyone else up, changed clothes, packed up, and it was time to go. That process ended up taking forever, and by then it was REALLY hot. My mom and I were hot and exhausted, but the kids all had lots of smiles on their faces. Zoe had a great time too!
I loaded up all the kids in my car, and we headed home to drop everyone off. It was a long day, but lots of fun and Zoe and Cooper had a great day celebrating and laughing with their friends!
