Desert Getaway!

Boy did we all need a few days away! We needed a little time to relax, not have a schedule, no activities to drive to, no lunches to pack, no work to get to, etc.! We used our timeshare for a few nights away in Palm Desert and it was great.
We met my family for brunch in the morning to celebrate birthdays, then headed out to the desert. We know we are close when we see the windmills!

The sun was shining and we had warm days to play! It sure felt like summer. We spent A LOT of time playing ping-pong. Cooper is the reigning champ...not sure where his skills came from. :)
We rode the shuttle over to check out the hotel, apart from our villas.
Coop can't stay away from basketball, even for a day, so we found the only court they had.
Had to eat and play in the big jacuzzi tub in our room...

We had a blast with the arcade games, air hockey, and table shuffleboard in the game room.

Coop rode his skateboard...
We hung out at The River, an outdoor "mall". We visited the Peter Lik gallery which is always awesome, and had to enjoy some Ben & Jerry's ice cream.

We spent many hours playing frisbee too!

A highlight of our trip was hiking the Indian Canyons. What a gem of a spot in the desert. We loved the incredible rock formations and the amazing waterfalls and streams.
This water was cold, but oh so refreshing!

We had a bit of a scare when Coop slipped off of a rock and landed on his back on another rock below. It knocked the wind out of him, and he ended up with a couple of bruised ribs, but he's a trooper and kept on going.

These kids are obsessed with resort smoothies...just can't get enough of them!

One of my favorite parts of being away is taking the time to enjoy a cup of coffee outside while the sun rises...
Gotta love a pool with a basketball hoop. The kids played for hours and did not want to leave....

 I am so blessed...

We had a fantastic time. Even though it was only a couple of days, it was nice to be away from the craziness of our everyday lives and have fun as a family!
