Audition Season...already??!!

I can't believe it is time for dance summer intensive auditions already! What a whirlwind this past year has been, and it seems too fast for it all to be happening again. Zoe made a list of the intensives she wants to audition for, and compared them with what Nicole recommended for her and settled on her top 3 or 4.
First arabesque shot was taken to submit:

The first up was the Gelsey Kirkland Academy. Zoe did this one two years ago and was accepted into their junior dance program. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it happen for her then. This is the most fun audition though, and the girls absolutely love getting to take a master class from Gelsey Kirkland herself.
I love seeing these smiling Dunamix faces!
Having fun and warming up before the audition...
We watched Gelsey come in and gather up the girls. It is somewhat mesmerizing to watch her, knowing who she is, and what she's accomplished as a dancer in her incredible career.
We were lucky enough to get to peek during parts of the audition (and snap a few pictures)!

It was neat to see the older girls watch the younger ones through the door.
It was neat to see her interact with the dancers. Zoe started in the junior program audition and then was asked to stay for the pre-professional program audition with some of the other girls from Dunamix.

After the audition was over, the girls asked if Ms. Kirkland would sign their pointe shoes.
and take a picture with them (along with her husband, and co-director) Mr. Chernov.
What a wonderful day for these girls. Whether they make it into the program or not, it was an honor to get to spend the afternoon with this incredible legend! Here's to the beginning of a great audition season, and some anxiety producing weeks ahead!!
