Zoe has been dreaming of this day for years. She has worked incredibly hard and spent countless hours training. When she first moved to this studio just over a year ago, she talked to Miss Nicole, the owner, about what it would take to make this dream a reality. With steadfast determination, and focus on strength and technique, Zoe was told on Monday that she was ready for pointe! She was actually ready about a month ago, but Nicole likes to put a small group of girls on pointe together, so she was waiting until they were all ready and injury free.
For this special day, I pulled her out of school, so we could meet Nicole, Brittany (one of her other instructors) and the other girls at the dance store for their fitting. The girls could hardly contain their excitement!

Then it was finally time to move to the barre, and go up on her box. Can you see the smile on her face?!
Zoe actually has very unique feet, which made it difficult to find the right fit. She tried on EVERY pair of pointe shoes in the store, in many sizes, lengths and widths! None of them were absolutely perfect, but Miss Nicole picked the best ones, and was able to make them work with some creatively sewn elastics. I think I see custom shoes in our future!
Once the girls were all fitted, they were given a lesson on how to sew their own ribbons and elastics.
Then a lesson on how to wrap and tie the ribbons...
These girls were ready to go!
Zoe couldn't stop smiling and was loving every minute of being in her new shoes!
So after almost 4 hours at the dance store, she left with her new shoes in hand. I'm not sure when she will want to let go of them! Now she has to wait until tomorrow to take her first Pointe class....we are so excited!
